Dinwiddie is expected to be out for the remainder season after suffering a partially torn ACL in the third game. But the Nets are aiming for a title with the likes of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden, and may try to convince teams that Dinwiddie will be worth the wait.
“Despite his injury, he could be a valuable piece for a team in the future,” Spears said on ESPN’s The Jump.
Dinwiddie, 27, is 6-foot-5 and often plays both guard positions. He averaged a career-highs of 20.6 points, 6.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds in 64 games last year.
He hasn’t ruled out a return this season.

The Nets were granted a $5.7 million disabled-player exception following Dinwiddie’s injury. They have until April 19 to utilize it.
